 Poster: A snowHead

Looking for a recommendation for some boot crampons. For occasional use mainly when spring cycles firm up steeper ground that might then be better skipped up than skinned up, nothing too gnarly though, and don't really need em to fit any other boots than my ski boots (which are mainly ntn these days if that matters)

barry, first off you need to decide if you want light weight alloy crampons, which are great weight wise but won't last as long and are no good if you are on mixed ground. While almost any basic 12 point crampon will do, the main issue is fit, so take the boots with you to the shop and go for the ones which fit best, any decent shop should have a range and be able to advise.

barry, as Jbob says you pretty much want to discount any of the lightweight alloy options unless they are just for very occasional use, even then I would be tempted to avoid them.

good steers all, thanks. i'm thinking something that can handle a bit of mixed ground abuse would be best, not overly concerned with weight
