Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

if you were me, and flying into Milan Malpensa on Monday (11th), and bearing in mind the snow conditions/warm front, which resort would you go to?

Current options i've been looking at are Courmayeur, Cervinia, Madesimo and Passo Tonale.

Keen to get some advice, as just worried about the temperatures, and whether i should just can the idea of some April skiing?!

Cervinia....don't know the others but Cervinia has lots of high skiing and links in to Zermatt again with extensive 3000m plus skiing.

One of the Monte Rosa resorts - Gressony or Champoluc look pretty white still, and the milky way gets good feedback elsewhere on this forum for snow at the moment.

Cervinia is a good call.

It's only an extra half hour or so in the car to Zermatt itself as well. Well, 'Tasch', and then the train to Zermatt.

Mr Technique, 2hrs 50 to Tasch from Malpensa by car - I'm amazed. It sounds like the obvious plan.

It's quite a lovely drive too, over the Simplon Pass.

I presume it can be closed by bad weather. 2000m so probably fine at this time of year, and no big storms forecast for this weekend.

It's a major route, and they try very hard to keep it open.

The two times I've driven over it were December and January. It was lovely and snowy, but the road was clear. Well, a bit icy on some of the bends, but you know.

Also, I think there is some kind of 'car carrying train' option if that pass is closed, albeit at an expense and a longer journey time.

Anyone been to Madesimo? Looking like we may go there as its close to Lake Como for a couple of non ski days if needs be if weather is too warm.

I love Gressoney, but the main Jolanda lift closes tomorrow, which would mean we need to bus it up to Staffal. Plus the forecast for Gressoney is pretty poor, so I'm thinking Madesimo, Passo Tonale or Cervinia would be best.

Any more thoughts? Didn't realise Cervinia linked to Zermatt - i did email some accommodation a couple of days ago in Cervinia, but prices are still very high!

Thanks in advance

Olly

I ski'd Ischgl Thursday 7th April no problems right down to resort in the morning, would imagine very heavy in the afternoon as the temperature was very warm. Ski'd Brueil Cervina/ Valtournenche on Saturday 9th April and the higher slopes were excellent for time of year, heavy/slushy going lower down to Valtourneche.
