Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski school Morzine/Avoriaz????

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are going to Morzine next week and I still haven't booked any ski lessons for the children. I have 2 boys a 10 year old who skis on the dry slopes in the uk and can carve and races slalmon courses but only skied on snow once when he was about 5. I also have a 12 year old who is determined not to enjoy skiing!! He has had a few dry slope lessons and been on snow once but still very snow plough. My aim is for the eldest to improve and actually have fun and maybe even enjoy skiing and for the youngest to ski with other children at the same ability and to get some race tuition. I have read bad reports about some ski schools and don't want them to be stuck with a non English speaking instructor just following him down in a large group with no tuition. I'm also worried about the lack oF snow, people have said it will be ok higher up at Avoriaz so should I be booking a ski school located there instead of morzine where we are staying? Don't want to pay for lessons and then spend half the time on the lift to reach some decent snow!! I think in an ideal world private lessons for both boys would be best but finincially I don't think this is an option. Please help, I don't know what I'm doing and I'm running out of
time!!!!

Jillysuze, welcome to Snowheads. That's quite a tall order that late in the day - but yes, up at Avoriaz will no doubt be best snow. Have a look at this link http://www.mountainhighs.co.uk/SkiingInfo.htm - useful names and numbers there. I think I'd start by telephoning BASS Morzine and see what they can suggest.

Good luck. snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

BASS Morzine are what you need ( I believe private lessons can be held up in avoriaz too if the schedule permits!)

Avoriaz Alpine Ski School and Freedom 2 Ski are two other British schools with good reputations based up in Avoriaz. Not being the school holidays I think you will find it difficult to find anybody running children's group lessons so you could be forced the private lesson route. Good luck.

Morzine Snowsports may be worth a try to see if they can offer anything in Avoriaz: www.skischool.co.uk
