Poster: A snowHead

I have a pair of X Wave 10 Free bought for a bargain (brand new, about 3 seasons old model). When I asked about the purpose of the hexagonal cuts outs in the clog I was offered explanations that included less weight, comfort and so on.
Anecdotally, this would appear to compromise the rigidity of the clog, thereby aiding comfort?
Anyhow, are there any known drawbacks or reported flaws with this 'technology'? Newer boots, like the Impact 10, seem to have areas on the clog that are 'mouldable' so I deduce the hexagonal cut out 'technology' died a death!
Boots feel good by the way!
Thanks for any info.

Simple, do these boots with such technology still exist? Did it do anything? What say you?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

kevin mcclean, according to one much wiser than I...
..(on the proper race boots, where wet/cold feet don't matter) the hexagons are there to be cut out to soften the outside flex of the boot - helping with turn initiation of the inner ski. The pattern allowed racers to have a variable number/pattern of hexagons - to vary the softening to best effect.
That the racer's feet got cold and wet wasn't a concern. Just as long as they went faster. Which, apparently, they did.
So, you're part of the the way there...
The cut outs make the outside of the boot less rigid - allowing you to flex the inside boot (and therefore ski) more easily.
Much like the Atomic Hawx (http://gearjunkie.com/gear-preview-atomic-hawx-110-ski-boot)

I heard from someone who should know that they are a trans temporal gate to allow inter-dimensional transuranic energy into your feet to stop them smelling quite so badly,
Honest.
FlyingStantoni, and I have an old London Bridge going cheap. It would look great in Morzine!
