Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am on the Alpine 2 course in Hintertux in a couple of weeks and am trying to find a way of getting there and back without me having to sell a kidney to pay for it. I live about an hour from Geneva and Chamonix and the cheapest flights I can get to Munich are over £400 with
Lufthansa
. There is a train from Geneva to Jenbach for reasonable money and then the transfer with Redpoint. I can also hire a car and drive it but would need to share the cost with someone else to make it worthwhile. Is anyone else travelling to Hintertux for a course from anywhere near me? Or has anyone got any suggestions for travel options? I have never been there before so don't know the lay of the land so to speak. Thanks in advance.

Have done it a few times before, train is the easiest way. Then you can get a bus up the valley to hintertux which is cheaper than redpoint.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for such a prompt response! Are the buses quite reliable and regular - bearing in mind I will be arriving on Sunday afternoon? Is there a website for bus details? Cheers

well it was a couple of years ago and relied on a far more organised friend, so just followed him!
If i remember rightly the last train stop is mayerhoffen...? so the easiest way to go from here is to send their tourism office a mail asking for the train times/bus times.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The austrian rail service website is
http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp
but if you are also looking at train times for switzerland then this might be helpful

Good luck for the course!

Thanks for all the info guys. The link to the Swiss railways site was particularly useful as I was able to get a special offer ticket to Jenbach for half the price I was being quoted on the Eurorail website.
