Hi,
Has anyone been to or know about Panorama in Canada? I'm being asked if it's a trip I want to go on by a travel agent - on a solo trip - but never heard about it. What's the nightlife like (granted it's second to the skiing which I already know should be good!) Any info would be great. Thanks

There's probably Hockey on TV.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Don't count on a kicking night out in Invermere either - most busy nightspot seemed to be the hot dog van. Makes Golden (3 pubs) look like Ibiza.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

When we were them some years ago the most lively place was the heli centre - and that was pretty dead.
Good snow isn't guaranteed either: is Taynton Bowl didn't open at all the year we went.

Very limited would be generous... We go to Panorama when we want a relaxing weekend of skiing, sitting in hot tubs and reading a book in the evenings.
There are a couple of bars but they are not lively.

Agree with the others - don't think the nightlife is exactly hopping. We just rest our knees in the hot-tubs after moguls.
Snow should be reasonable this year. Think La nina is being very kind.

I wasn't planning on bringing a boombox!
Fair enough though, have a good one and any feedback would be good to hear for future reference!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Make sure you go to the lodge owned by Phil & Claire (can't remember the name of it) - amazing food and a lovely couple!!!

snowsteve, Thanks for your helpful suggestion
I will do a trip report as lots of folk were kind enough to give lots of advice on my Will I Like Panorama thread.

The bars don't get going until after 10 and only on a friday, sat and monday. If you want night clubs this is not the place. We have had a big snow year though and everything has been open since the third week.
The lodge owned by Phil and Claire is the Earl Grey Lodge.

Someone's mentioned in another thread about the gratis evening "dinner bus", running into Invermere. Does it still run? Anyone have an idea of the from-to-times? I guess it's similar to the FAR to Fernie bus of past (which is not now gratis, and relatively unreliable last time I was out there). And what's the rough transit time between?
I'm also quite aware of the quiet nature of the place, which is not a problem. I've reasonable exposure to "Canadian nightlife", but I'm guessing this may be even more of an experience.
Any recommendations in Invermere for bars/pubs, decent food?
Cheers, John.

The bus still runs but not on a Tuesday (it goes to radium hot springs) and it’s still free. The evening bus starts at 4 and the last bus back is at 9pm. It’s free and a taxi back will cost you around $50. 30 mins ride time. Good places to eat are Strands, McToogles and Ray Rays. Buds is a good night out.

jonrose, thanks, looks like it's gonna be a quiet one (no way I'm springing fifty bucks for a cab ). So, no excuses for not catching the first lift.
Is Radium worth the trip? It's not far from Invermere by the look of it.
