Dagnabbit its my b'day soon and the worst part is I'm not going snowboarding as per the norm over the last few years. In fact haven't been in London since 2005 for my b'day. I'm cringing at the prospect of my mum and dad calling me round for a birthday drink and reminding me of my age. Oh and all the nagging about when I'm going to settle down blah blah blah...
Anyway, I thought I'd wait and grab a last minute bargain but there aren't any. Why? What's going on? I normally book well in adavnce but this year we couldn't decide on resort so we left it last minute. But theres nothing that great to tempt me to book up. The so-called bargains aren't that great when you look into them. Money is tight as I've already done 1 trip to Flaine for xmas/ NYE. Is it becuase of the general lack of snow? I've tried the usual routes but maybe I'm missing something.

Know what you mean. It was my 50th at the start of Feb and, as I've already had what looks like being my only trip this season due to cash flow, I had to settle for a trip to HH. No substitute but better than not skiing on my birthday.

I've always wanted to go skiing on my birthday but since it's in late July, I don't think it will ever happen.
Anyway, ignore all this 'settling down' gumpf. I get it all the time and I'm in my 40s with a good job and a mortgage. How much more settled can one person get?
Seem to be plenty of last minute bargains out there for March on the usual suspect websites. Where are you looking?

Well if you're looking in France it's the Paris holidays. Not the best time for bargains; France will be v busy till mid March. By which time there might also be a bit more snow!

Gainz, I have a strange feeling that something might turn up in late March. Maybe in a French resort. A high one. One beginning with a T.....
I'd keep checking on a well known snowsports forum, if I were you.

I always go boarding for my birthday, 22nd March. Last year was Tignes, a big night out, followed by a champagne breakfast on the day and then out on slopes. It was superb.
I will be 48 this March.
I am married to an unbelievably great girl, who shares my belief that we are far too young to 'settle down'.
Last minute bargains start 48 hours before departure these days. For your birthday, make sure you get something good booked, in advance.

Gainz, I'm back in Tignes at Mountain Sun's place (at Tignes 1800) for 4 days from the 25th. This is a boys only trip. We would have gone the weekend before, so were there for the actual day, but wifey is taking me to Dublin for my pressy, to see the rugby that weekend. You are welcome to join me and the lads in Tignes for a belated celebration.

Gainz - My 40th is this sunday...eeek! I think I just want to get it over with now!
Enjoy the fact that you still have one year of your 30s left and your birthday falls on one of the best weeks of the ski season. You can also enjoy getting drunk without being woken up at 7am the next morning by children asking for their breakfast!

snowymum, 41 was much worse for me. You are no longer just in your 40s, but at 41 are solidly into them.
At 47 now, it all seems a stupid thing to think about. I suppose I'm not looking forward to 50 but don't really care any more.

This season several main tour operators at the 3-4 week before departure point, seem to have sold a lot of their holidays en bloc to late deal agents to sell.
I was quite shocked as well to find all the late deals all gone but then when checked with late deal specialists a lot of holidays on offer by them.
I think TOs dont want to be seen having a fire sale and so get the late deal companies to sell their cheap deals quitely.

barry, I forgot the smilie at the end of my post.
Scotland has had a good couple of seasons but the wind and rain have always been an issue when friends have gone there in previous years. I hope you have another good one this year.
