Snow Reports

Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

My OH and kids are due to fly on the 9th. It's been anounced by Ulen, the resort operators, that the lifts will be shutting on the 10th due to poor snow conditions and a warm forecast.

Mollerski, get you money back if you can.
We visited Bansko first week of March. Disappointment started with the the queue for the gondola - the only lift from town to the resort - up to 2 hours in the queue. Worse still the visit coincided with the Greek holiday weekend. Those guys are expert queue jumpers. You can take the shuttle bus or a taxi instad, but then the queue is on the road.
When we were there the the piste bashers tended not to overlap their stripes so there were mounded ridges up the pisted runs - great for jumping practice on the traverses, a bit dodgy since the reds seemed to be crowded with stationary novice skiers, and idiotic boarders who seem to think it's a hoot to sit in groups on the runs. Brave!
Still, very well looked after at Hotel Avalon by James, Vanya et al - that guy makes a mean vindaloo too!

must have been lucky so far. the longest i've ever been in the gondola q has been about 5 mins from two trips.
i'd try for money back or another location.. after all you booked a ski holiday, not a walking around the old town looking for cheap beer..
