Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

, welcome to Snowheads. With a ski holiday, the accommodation is usually a fairly small component in overall cost - ski pass, ski hire and tuition will cost a fair bit, so you need to look at the cost of the overall package. Apres ski is generally cheaper (and more lively) in many of the Austrian resorts than in French resorts - if your holiday requirements include improbable amounts of beer in lively bars, you're probably best off going to Austria.
Cheapest packages (and good) are sometimes with Action Outdoors who do holidays by coach to UCPA centres in France - have a look at their website. If that formula interests you, there's a discount code somewhere on snowheads. Price includes full board, pass, tuition, ski hire, the lot. Around £650 including travel.
There is a good hostel in Chamonix, if you are already experienced skiers - I've not stayed there, but my niece and her BF did. They lived on baguettes and said the hostel was excellent, and sociable. Someone will know the name.
There has been little snow over much of the Alps in the last few weeks, and some warm temperatures have not done the snow much good. However, the weather is changing right now - so if snow quality is important to you, that's something else to factor in. Plenty of snow reports, and weather forecasting, elsewhere on snowheads.
You might get some good cheap last minute deals through Tour Operators.
When you say "a few days" skiing, most holidays are a week - it's generally much easier (and better value) to do a week.
