Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

sking from les meuires to meribel?

hi all,

i'm hoping someone can help me! i'm staying in les menuires but thinking about having my lessons over in meribel with a friend. so....how easy it it get over there/how long does it take? and if anyone can recommend a route (avoiding reds....or at least at the beginning of the week!) that would be great!

You can do it but you'll need to take 3 lifts from Les Menuries up to Tougnette, so it would take a while. You can't guarantee that the lifts on the ridge will be open since they sometimes close in high winds, so it's a bit dodgey. If your lesson is in the afternoon then you risk missing the lift back, which can be expensive in taxi fares.

Disregarding the fact that lifts could be closed due to bad weather, it's not a overly difficult journey to do in either direction. It can also be done entirely on blues:

Les Menuires - Meribel:
1- Roc Des 3 Marches 1 Gondola
2- Roc Des 3 Marches 2 Chairlift
3- Ski down Grand Lac, then Pelozet (2 blue runs)
4- St Martin 2 Chairlift
5- Ski down Faon, then Lievre (2 Blue runs) all the way into Meribel
This would probably take somewhere in the region of 45-55 mins

Coming back over would be easier and quicker.

Meribel - Les Menuires:
1- Tougnete 1 Gondola
2- Tougnete 2 Chairlift
3- Ski Gros Tougne (blue) all the way into Les Menuires.
This would probably take about 30 mins.
