After a lot of deliberations (and searching) I bought a POC VPD Spine Vest. Love it to bits, very comfy, very practical.....spot on!!! A really great piece of kit - a little pricey, but as Mr Ginola once said "because I'm worth it" or should that be "because MY BACK is worth it!"?

My thoughts exactly - My Dainese skiing one is getting a little bit tired (well the jacket it's attached to), and I now live on Vancouver's North Shore so the oportunity to break myself can be extended all year round, so was also looking for something that may work for the bike too. Would be nice if I didn't have to have the full on armour for skiing, but the option of adding it for the bike.

Absolutely the POC VPD vest does (and is designed to be as such). In fact I bought mine from the Wiggle website which is only for bikes and cycling

stuarth, Forcefield gear is motorcycle gear so more than up to MTB use

Not exactly what I meant Kevin. I fully understand that as motorcycle gear the Forcefield will do the job. Was considering the weight and breathing capability of the item.
I have a motorbike licence and can tell you that I get a lot more sweaty on the MTB then I do on the bike, (not withstanding the heat in France a few summers ago wherby I could wring out my textile suit after a 200 mile run!)
