Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We stayed in the MGM cimes blanches appartments in les eucharts which were fantastic. Several operators offer them. We used ski collection for the accommodation and booked the train ourselves.

ESF Eucharts fine for age 5 + skiing on blues up the mountain. It was not so good for a 3 year old as they stay in the piou piou area which does not get the morning sun and was absolutely freezing. We were there a peak week and there were 25 children standing in the freezing cold waiting for their turn to ski down a short slope. However on the plus side for the 3 yr old the creche at eucharts was well equipped and staff kind. There is a morning ski plus lunch club option which would give you time to get to la thuile and back. We were there at new year so maybe if you are thinking of half term onwards it would not be so cold for the youngest.

On the whole we liked the resort particularly the eucharts area and it is worth a visit.

Roughneck, go to www.larosiere.net for lots of info, children under 5 get a free lift pass and the Ski Famille pass for 2 adults and 2 children is terrific value. La Rosiere is Ski espirit's most popular resort but there are lots of smaller independent UK TOs in the village as FTS posted - how much do you want to spend?

I found these apartments when doing a bit of research into skiing with our family at la Rosiere, cheaper than the other self-catering apartments which are "résidences" ones I found in this resort.

I am just back from La Rosiere last weekend and, although snow was suffering a bit, it was a fantastic holiday and great resort, our kids loved it as well and we had them in ski school with ESF who seemed fine.

We booked through Erna Low and stayed in the Cimes Blanches which were absolutely brilliant. We got a flexible chunnel crossing with the booking and drove down, taking a stop en route, it all worked very well and, having not skied in France for a number of years, was exactly what we needed to tempt us away from Austria!

We were looking at catered chalets but we'd take any thing around a 4*. It's the child care and ski school that would be the big seller. with us having small ones we could do with not a lot of walking.

Both child orientated ski schools are very good, much better than the norm (ESF and Evolution 2). Ski Esprit would probably be your best bet to include child care. Most chalets are well appointed.
Other options - The Cimes Blanches (Ski Beat) and Planica's (Ski Olympic) are some of the smartest but Ski Olympic don't offer childcare.

like the look of Esprit but they do over 5's skiing in the morning and under 5's in the afternoon. We'd like to be all together in the afternoon.

cimes blanches is not ski beat unless things have changed. ski beat have their own chalets. cimes blanches is luxury self catering and available through ski collection, crystal and others.

The cimes blanches accommodation is far more luxurious than the esprit chalets (lovely pool, jacuzzi area) and there are a couple of nice places to eat out with children in les eucharts when you want a break from self catering. you can ski to and from the door. If you want to book your children into lessons plus lunch I'd use ESF les eucharts. If you just want morning lessons for the children I'd look into using Evo 2 - they are based in main part of resort but will pick children up from cimes blanches in their minibus.

we stayed in cimes blanches when our children were 3 and 6 and had a great holiday overall.

Roughneck, If you're looking for good chalets in La Rosiere, then Ski Olympic have a good selection, check out Chalet Planica for top facilities, other independent chalet operators are MoreAlps (www.morealps.com) and a Mountain Chalet (www.amountainchalet.com) they've all been in the village for a good while with good locations. The downside of using EVO2 unless you're staying in a Ski Espirit chalet is that they are Espirit's contracted ski school, so in holiday times they can get more than a little busy. ESF have the largest number of instructors both in the village and at Les Eucherts.
