Booked ski carriage for ph's skies ages ago for our Feb flight but i have since bought some myself. Shall I just stick them in with ph's (its a double bag) or book carriage for myself?

Shimmy Alcott, stick em in with ph's - if he gets rubbled he can pay the extra

I noticed when booking with our friends at Ryanair that it is chraper to book my skis their own seat than to put them in the hold. So, I Don't use the low costs guys for Ski carriage, far too costly.
I'm currently using these guys http://www.skicarriage.co.uk
It works out cheaper, easier (no lugging to and from, as well as around the airports). If you are driving or hiring a car it makes the whole experiance more comfortable, and easier also. I think from memory they us UPS or Fedex

Shimmy Alcott, where are you going skiing in February?

I struggle to see how £99 for a pair of skis and £15 for a pair of boots (to France) works out cheaper than £37 both ways for the same kit (Easyjet), plus the yearly storage and membership charge.
For several pairs of skis, this may get somewhere near comparable but, I imagine, not for the majority of Brit holidaymakers.
It may work out better in comparison to hiring kit, but once the purchase cost is taken into consideration, it may still take a while to break even.

Shimmy Alcott, Is that the place that became the new La Rosiere for a short time on here?

Shimmy Alcott, if you're under the weight limits, they're fine with two pairs in the same bag - or at least they always have been with me. Otherwise they just charge more.

Shimmy Alcott, To summarise, I asked the same question. If you have paid for 1 hold bag and 1 ski bag you get 32kg, 2 hold bags and 1 ski bag - 52, kg, 3 hold bags and 1 ski bag - 72kg, etc.

Colin B, 2 ski bags and one hold bag 44 kg

Colin B, I think I booked two hold bags - will check - so they apply a combined weight? Hm, need to weigh the skis then. Thanks for that.

|
|
|
|
|
Shimmy Alcott, My wheeled ski bag with 2 sets of skis/poles and nothing else is 15Kg so I think we'll fit just within 52kg.
rayscoops, You're just confusing me now

Guys, I hate to use the forum to promote my business but 'Piste of Mind Ltd' offer door to door service from UK to Tarentaise in France (Val D, 3 Vs, Plagne/Arcs etc) and offer a Super Mega Snowhead discount of 10% making a a total cost of £48 (round trip) with no weight limit. Look us up aton the internet |
You don't "hate to use the forum to promote" your business. You are happy to do so because it is in your interest and because you are a sensible entrepreneur. Good to see a Snowheads discount.
That said, you're barking up the wrong tree on this one, the OP is pretty clear: "Booked ski carriage for ph's skies ages ago" - so the deal is already done.
If ever you want someone to run a delivery on the way to a ski trip for you let me know - at your prices I could turn quite a profit in my Mondeo.
