skimottaret, can you keep us updated on how you go with this combo of Mantra/Duke as it's one of the set-ups i'm seriously considering.
What made you go for the Mantras over anything else? and have you stopped smiling yet?

Arno, will do a little hunting then, just wasnt sure if one brand or attachment mechanism was preferred...
shoogly, a few skiers i know of a similar ability and size rate em .. initially i was planning on renting but as they are fairly specialised i thought i would just go ahead and buy bindings and stick em on any old fat skis to try out but saw a used pair of mantras in the right length on ebay and got em...
will let you know after i have had a proper play, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Mantra = very good ski (for a skinny ski addict ). Main thing is to check tip and tail attachments. Some of the tip loops don't naturally fit round larger tips (although a wide skin should have a wider loop.

tail attachments not necessary in European snow conditions IMV but lots of people have them nonetheless

skimottaret, I have the Glidelight Mohair. Slide better than my Colltex non mohair skins and stick better on ice but get wet faster which makes refixing trickier. They were 20% off at Telemark Pyrenees

New Montana Montapolys are a very good £130 ish choice. My montana's have lasted years and they were the older version. The new ones are really easy to fit yourself too. Black Diamond are worth a look too, not used them, but heard good things.
If you are touring for a short time, then get something that is easy to use and put on and wont lose it's stick as easily.
I can't imagine you will want to tour for long on 191's and Duke's. I have Duke's on my 182 Punishers and 2 hours feels like 8 compared to my Dynafit set up.

a wee bump - off skiing on saturday and i cut my colltex skins to fit today and am wondering how important it is to seal the edges of the skins with glue post cutting. if i should do it what glue to use? the colltex site has a video that seems to show almost a superglue which i would think would be very brittle. any ideas???
