When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

An anticyclone sitting over Europe is having a bad affect on air pollution in the Alps. Apparently, this is the 10th day of a pollution alert concerning particle emissions. The pollution is mainly caused by industry and vehicle emissions. This has been going on for some time. when I drove from Geneva out on the A40 towards Chamonix almost a week ago there were compulsory speed limit signs flashed up - having driven single handed from Hampshire I didn't need telling not to be doing 130 kph!

There was a warning in force between Lyon and Grenoble last weekend. It isn't unusual for there to be one around Grenoble.
