Hi there,
Has any got any cheap suggestions for transfer companies to transfer us from Malpensa airport to Cervinia and back (Feb half-term) - for a family of four?
Thanks .... Simon.

simonx, have you thought about car hire - the trip from Malpensa to Cervinia is pretty straightforward if you are worried about the state of the roads - good motorway until the last 20km up to Cervinia, and even then, the SR46 road from Chatillon to Cervinia is not too steep and twisty and is normally well maintained.
I've always found that transfers in italy are very limited timewise - you could end up hanging around the airport for a long time ....

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks doogo - I have some cheaper quotes in now - just €470 return in total.
I will compare car hire now - I'm happy to do that, but my wife is worried about the state of the roads etc.
I'll need to factor in cost of snow chains and tolls and petrol of course - any help (esp. for tolls appreciated!).
Cheers ... Simon.

simonx, Would be surprised if hire car is any where close to to €470. Roads are fine. Get the nervous ones to sleep on the way to the resort!!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

thanks for the reassurance .... about time I made my choice!
Will look into car hire today, probably shouldn't go for too small a car since need to fit in all the bags and two pairs of skis, so may not be that much of a saving.

simonx, we got a good quote from www.arguscarhire.com - worth shopping around a bit. Wish we were flying into Malpensa, rather than Bergamo (but Dublin doesn't do multiple choices at the mo!)
hope you get sorted - my wife, her bro and myself are going to be out mid Feb as well - fingers crossed for the weather conditions!!

Going with "Volkswagen Golf 5dr Tdi or similiar" - shouuld fit the 3 of us more than OK - and am keen not to get too much smaller as got stuck with a Smart 42 from a different service provider going to Serre Chevalier a couple of years ago - which turned out not to be much fun, when the automatic gearbox of that piece of """" started having a hissy fit in very light snow outside Briancon ....
at least golf (or golf size car) seems sturdy enough - i will be asking for a set of ski chains just in case though ... have only ever had to put them on once, and that was quite an ordeal ....

We're off to Gressoney (not far from cirvinia) hiring from Malpensa try car 3000 ford focus estate or similar £146 with insured xs snow chains 34 euros extra for 5 days. No experience of the drive but it can't be that difficult?!!!

We used this guy last year: riccardoferraris@cheapnet.it
He was good using him again this year, but flying to Turin this time (€340 return) - about an extra €100 from Malpensa I think.
The drive was easy by the way but I still can't persuade my wife.
