I've stayed there about 3 years ago.
The hotel is not actually in Les Menuires but slightly up the hill at Riberty 2000 which is little more than a small group of hotels and there are no night busses. It's walkable to Les Menuires, but it's a 20-25 minute walk around a bendy mountain road without a proper footpath (or a 15 minute walk up a piste if the snow conditions permit).
It's a typical Club Med ski hotel. The rooms are pretty small, but comfortable and the food was excellent. In terms of the full package (flights, transfer, all day ESF lessons, full-board, etc) it's very good value for money. This hotel also has (or at least did when I was there) a free unlimited bar in the price. The overall package is good value for money, but due to distance/price you'll never really leaving the hotel.
If you'll make use of the ski-lesons, and the thought of having all your meals and evenings spent in the one hotel, then it's great. I think it depends upon you and you and your group. Some people would find it great, others would go a bit stir crazy.

I think Club Med is like Marmite. It is great if it is right for you and what you want from a holiday? I love them but all I want from a skiing holiday is a clean warm room with ensuite facilities, good skiing and good food all for a good value. I quite like the fact that there isn't hundreds of English there and I don't mind if not every member of staff can't speak English. I like the ESF ski groups as it helps you meet more people from the hotel that you probably wouldn't meet otherwise. And I particulary like the fact I don't have to keep going to a cash point when yet more of my money runs out.
I don't know if you've got children but I can't comment on the kids clubs as I have never had experience of them. I went twice as a kid (8 and 9 years old) and only did the ski school part. Again had great fun!
Also I have only ever gone out of school holidays. I think the hotels get quite crammed in the school holiday weeks?
I have done DIY, several TO and Club Med but personally speaking CM have always been the best fun, nicest ski holidays I've had. I'm booked agin for this season. Can't wait!

Friends of ours went there last year (Feb half term). They are quite picky and they enjoyed it, so that would seem to be another plus vote. They've been with CM before in other resorts and are going again elsewhere, as other posters have said, you either love the CM approach or you really don't like it.
Have you been to that part of the Three Valleys before? We went last year to Les Menuires (not with CM) and generally enjoyed it - especially going up to Val Thorens and above.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Another positive vote for Club Med from me. We went to Tignes a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I took some euros with me, I think I spent less than €50 for the whole week. The food is superb and changes significantly each evening and all drinks are included. If you are thinking of booking, check out the Quidco website as it gave 7% refund when I booked.

I've been to the Club Med in Val D'Isere several times now. Thumbs up from me, but you have to know what to expect. The rooms are small, so you don't want to be spending a lot of time in the room. The teachers/guides in the 1a and Competition groups were really good, but I heard from some of the people in the beginners groups that it was not so good. You tend to find it is very international and you end up sitting with different people from different nationalities every night. Speaking French as well as English helps a lot . They have an animation programme, but they don't force it on you so you can ignore it if you like. No problem!
All in all, given the ski in ski out location right at the foot of Solaise, it was well worth it.

kamikaze, We had the same problem re walking home as our friends were staying in the "croisette", on second night we were told about the normal way to walk back! 8-12mins at most! Wish we knew that on the first night as it took nearly an hour in the cold and staggering!!
