Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

San Cassiano, Dolomites 2010/11

I realise it's a bit late in the season to start a new snow report thread but there doesn't seem to be one already, so here goes:

Was in San Cassiano last week, my first trip there and had a wonderful time. Loved it, loved it, loved it! Haven't been to the Dolomites in more than 20 years and I had completely forgotten how wonderful the scenery is.

Was there on Inside Out duty and we had terrific snow conditions given how late we were in a poor season. Just about everything was open, with icy pistes in the morning, grippy snow in the middle of the day and softening to slushy goodness in the late afternoon. Piste preparation was to a very high standard, so we had good conditions for developing skills and lots of opportunity to tour around the Sella Ronda. On top of this we had unbroken sunshine for just about all the week which was wonderful for lazy lunches on several different mountain restaurant terraces (Jane's comment on my return home was to say I looked like I'd been "Chernobled"). By the end of the week the thaw seemed to be accelerating, but I think it should be OK for another week or two until the end of the season. Higher slopes, such as the top of the Hidden Valley, had lovely snow conditions for most of the day, but the off-piste looked well and truly cooked.

As a bonus skimottaret and I had a day to kill on the way home so visited Venice, was was an easy bus ride away from the airport. All in all a wonderful week. For those on Facebook there are lots of photos here if you are interested, but these are some of my favourites (plus a video slideshow):
