Driving to Cham in Feb and wondered if anyone could help me out on two counts...
- What do you need in your car for french law.. I know you need a triangle and headlight deflectors etc but what else????
- Where do you get the little motorway sticker thingy from and how much is it?

AlpineAddict, Chamonix is in France, you only need motorway vignettes in Switzerland and Austria.
Other stuff you need that I can think of: reflective jackets, spare bulbs, insurance cert, MOT cert, spare specs if you wear them.

Spare specs?? Wasn't aware that was a requirement in France.
OP other things you legally will need are chains (or socks) V5, drivers licence - all orginals and not copies.

Thx folks... rjs, Didn't realise it was just switzerland and Austria for the for the motorway vignette... marcellus, Are chains now a legal requirement to have? Didnt really think there would be a need for them getting to Chamonix???

AlpineAddict, There are some things that are legally required but not much use and other thing which are not legally required but a good idea to have. Chains and strong sreenwash being two.

No, generally there wouldn't be. But sometimes when conditions are really bad police stop people without chains from proceeding. That happens quite often in some places - don't know how often it would apply in Chamonix. If your accommodation was up a hill it could be the only way to get there, though.
Is a First Aid kit compulsory too?
