Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ramp angles

I've been skiing on Dukes the last few days and have super sore calves. I mainly but this down to lack of ski fitness but wonder if there is a significant difference between Dukes and Rossi/Look Axial/PXs which is my alpine binding of choice in ramp angle?

Pretty sure P/PX's have huge ramp, and the duke is mildy positive to quite negative ramp if you're on the longer end of the bsl. So yeah, your ankle is far more open skiing in dukes so your calves won't be used to being used in that manner. I'd assume you'll adapt to it quickly though, muscle strength in a vaccum isn't affected, it's just a new motor pathway. I found dukes quite odd, but I've only skied them on original Praxis anyway...

(I'm going to disclaimer this that my interest in muscle adaptation is from a bit of reading this summer, could be wrong)

fatbob, Look/Rossi's have 4/5mm of delta depending on the model. Marker advertise the Duke/Baron's as having zero but, like some other manufacturers, what they publish is somewhat different from reality & they have 1/2mm of delta depending when the toe height has been correctly set for an alpine boot. I would assume that the lifting of the toe will give a greater range of flex that you'll feel in your calf but Id defer to CEM/SZK for the proper biomechanical affect.

Just MTFU wink

I compared my Marker M12s (on my Volkl 5*) to my Dukes (on Volkl Gotama) :
ski base>toe sole : M12 : 49.3mm Duke: 50.6mm
heel both 52mm.

So there u go! (or there I go, you may get sore shins. I did get sore shins too first 3 hours in Castleford, no soreness after.
