Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A ski boot question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Sorry! I did look at the ski boot sticky post at the top but it's been removed for updating?

Just after some advice on choosing my first pair of boots. I'm fed up of coming back from skiing with blisters and sore feet. Currently modelling a nice sore on my leg from chill factore boots on monday Sad

Obviously any boots I buy will be properly fitted but any advice on choosing boots will be greatly appreciated!

Make?
Fastenings?
Are some better for wider feet as the sides of my feet always get sore in the boots I hire?

Thankies Very Happy

Millie10, See a good fitter, they will take you through it step by step when you come to buy.

The update for the ski boot sticky will be done in time, I was made aware of it being used for commercial/professional reasons by other bootfitters, not that this a major problem, but it's intention was to serve the public and consumer. Seen and read my words cut and copied on sites and in person. Such a bore.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Give yourself a bit of a self analysis about what you want to do with your skiing and what level you're at so you have something to say, and then find a good fitter and trust them!

Millie10, The best way is not to choose a boot but go to a good bootfitter who will find the best boot to fit your feet and your skiing level. The good news is that you have one quite close to you. I'd advise you to go and see Graham at Rivington Alpine, he's just moved to a new premises as he outgrew the old one and has a great stock of boots.

He will go through a thorough process to find the boot that fits you the best, so you will be there for a few hours at least. He has a growing reputation here and I've not heard a bad word from anyone who's been to see him.

Web site here : http://www.rivingtonalpine.co.uk/

I have no connection with him other than being a very satisfied customer. Try doing a search on here and you will find lots of other recommendations.

Millie10, Will also recommend Graham at Rivington Alpine. First set of boots I got were from some rubbish shop about 10 years ago. They gave me much pain until Ellis Brigham helped me out and stretched them to fit a bit better. Just replaced them with some atomic boots fitted by Graham. A perfect fit first time, and totally recommended.

Gits! How the hell were they doing that? Posting customer problems as if they were theirs?
