Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ladies Salomon Quest All Mountain /touring one boot does it all......

Been doing a fair amount of research on potential boots for the Mrs. For this year she has a pair of Scott Womens Realm Skis to go with her Dynastar 4800 mounted with Naxo touring bindings which a guide mate of mine kindly gave me last year as a "thankyou".....as the Mrs was following me in going back to skis from snowboarding.

This year she did not ski tour as she had no boots and opted for snowshoes and board on the one occassion she came with me.

What I've been after is a boot she'd be happy with for on / off piste but would be good for the odd ski tour, 1/2 day climb etc - if she were to enjoy touring then we'd look at more specialist (Garmont / Dynafit etc) boots especially as they come in at around the £450 mark.

So was quite pleased to see in the Snow and Rock brochure the Ladies Salomon Quest - so we were up around Chertsey way this morning and went and had a look, and ended up coming away with a pair!

All credit to the guy (Alex?) who did the fitting. You can buy inter changeable vibram soles for them should you so wish but don't think the other half will be in a situation where she'll need those just yet and the sole is good for what I'll have her doing. In terms of construction it's not up to the build quality of my Garmont Axons but then they cost £200 less.

Think with the current "fashion" towards ski touring etc then this is a very good entry level boot - proof will be in the pudding when we nick a quick week in Jan prior to going out in March/April and I'll report back then.

Again Snow and Rock did a good job, and was good to feel that we were getting the same, if not better stanadard quality of boot fitting service than one would expect in a mainstream ski station - mind you the fitter was not English and did ski tour himself and sort of knew where I was coming from!

Interesting stuff, thanks for posting.

Snow and Rock sometimes get a hard time (on this forum and elsewhere), but I've had pretty good service from them in the past too.

I'm worried about why you say the quality isn't as good as the Garmonts - can you be more specific? My wife has had a pair of Salomon boots for several years and they seem fine. I'm interested in the Quest Pebax Pros... Apart from the specific problem with the tech insterts I didn't think there was any issue with the Salomons.

Weathercam, my lad has got a pair of Salomon Quest 12 for this season, if they stand up to the abuse he gives boots for a season I will let everyone know, I have never been a fan of Salomons, so hoping to be proved wrong.
