Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here.
As the title suggests I'm looking for ski hire in St Anton, well prices to see if I should buy skis or just rent.
There will be a few in our party looking to rent I think so I was thinking it may be worth me trying to organise a deal before we go.
Any suggestions, google isn't really helping me here.
Any contact details or shop names would be appreciated.

cramman, Bit of a cartel going on in St Anton with ski hire. Will cost you a lot of money - I don't know as I've always used my own. Several places do it but from what I've heard and read on here, it is expensive. Here's the official link http://www.stantonamarlberg.com/en/winter/skigebiet/online-equipment-rentals.html Looks like anywhere from €185 to €240 for skis and boots. A couple of the guys that we go to St Anton with hire stuff and it does look decent enough kit.

Prices seem pretty similar between the different shops, and as boabski says its not the cheapest of places, but you should get good stuff.
I've tended to use Sport Jennewein and had great service and quality gear from them. I know others have used Pangratz (part of the Intersport group) and say similar, and Sport Fauner are very friendly - it's a smaller shop and probably the best for customer service.
It is worth checking with your hotel or travel comapny to see who they recommend, simply because that way you'll get a discount. You'll find every hotel has a "deal" with someone.
If you are staying slightly out of town you can usually leave your gear in the shop overnight which is very handy.

Jennewein, Intersport and Alber are the main ones, as said there's also Fauner. Only had experince with Intersport and Jennewein. Jennewein were great, let you change skis mid week so if there was a major dump of powder... Also good for testing out various skis if you're looking to buy.

Which bit of St. Anton are you staying in?
I've used the Sport-Jennewein Shop under the Nasserein a few times and they also allow you to change skis mid-week. Good kit and well looked after.

Agree with all of the above. When my wife and I ran a chalet in Nasserein, we took our guests to Jennewein right by the Nasserein lift. Their gear was in excellent nick generally, and they were super helpful if you wanted to change stuff or just try stuff out.
Not much point shopping around once you're in town because there is definitely a bit of a cartel going on, and yes, it's not cheap.
One thought: if you're arranging your own travel, you may have success hiring out of town. For instance I noticed at least one ski hire shop in Vienna, and that's nowhere near the alps  so you *may* get a more competitive price in one of the bigger places like Innsbruck or Landeck that aren't purely ski resorts. Just a thought, I haven't actually checked any prices.

I'll try a few places but after having a quick look, 180 euro ish, I'm considering some new skis.

I'm planning on buying skis in St Anton....Intersport always seems to be the best, is there one close to the Hotel Rundeck or would you recommend somewhere cheaper (small LOCALS shop!!)

dazman, It'll be cheaper to get them in the UK, but Jennewien are pretty good for discounts - go to the one up by the Galzig and speak to Geoffrey.

Intersport is probably a good 20 meters from the Rundeck hotel, but as other have said: it won't be cheap.
Renting is a rip-off in St. Anton unfortunately.

I've been renting my skis for years... I don't know why really, would be better off buying them.
Anyway, last year I was looking for an accommodation on winter-sports.com but I ended up booking my skis on their site. They partner with Skiset (well known) and I got 35% off. Joy!!! Might do it again this year... unless I finally buy my own!

Hi Dazman,
Go into Snow+ Rock in Dublin and ask for Dan - he might be a bit busy at this time of the year but he has a young "dude" type apprentice in the ski dept. whos pretty good also - their gear is top quality and Dan is really helpful with both skis and boots - especially boots - .Enjoy
