Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stag Do, January

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
A friend fo mine was picking my brains about a resort for a stag do in January ... so I thought i'd come to the collective mind for advice. Cool

They'll be 10 snowboarders who vary from not boarded for a few years to quite experienced. They're looking for a good resort for boarding and also excellent apres ski Toofy Grin . They're planning on a 4 day trip and they're all coming from the UK but are spread out so they're looking for flights to one location from multiple UK airports. They're also look for some cheap accommodation like a youth hostel for example.

For resorts, I thought about either St Anton or Saalbach/Hinterglemm (good skiing and apres). Any others? I'm sure there are loads. For St Anton, is there anywhere easy to fly to from many airports in the UK? Saalbach would be easy because there's plenty of flights from the UK to Salzburg. What about France? - Geneva is pretty easy to get to. I don't know the French resorts at all so couldn't advise.

I know I can rely on snowHeads to give me some advice/recommendations snowHead snowHead

Cheers everyone

Kersh

That was my mates' first suggestion. Does it fit the bill? Is there a youth hostel there?

Chamonix. There's a hostel - someone will know the name. My niece and BF stayed there last New Year and had a great time. They could cook their own food to keep costs down, which was vital for them, and enjoyed the whole experience - boarding and company/apres.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

You can't go to france for a stag weekend - although having said that a mate is in Valdespair this weekend. In some austrian resorts you can find 'traditional' stag entertainment if you get my drift wink

Did Kitzbuhl 4 a stag via flights to Munich. Hired cars - stayed at snowbunnys.co.uk - backpackers place, bit crappy but adequate for a stag weekend. Surely most bits of UK can fly to munich or in ryaniars case probably a files, a shack with a tower 60km outside munich.. overall a great weekend.

St. Anton would be ok, but not really enough scenery to look at unless you tie in with Scandi week. Fly to Friedrichshafen, Zurich or Innsbruck (but not the easiest airport for weekend breaks)

Kersh,
Hows about Morzine/ Avoriaz, snowboarding capital of the universe.(allegedly).
Easy and short transfers, can do multiple arrival times no problem. Lots of flights to GVA from all over the UK.
Good selection of apres ski bars, couple of night clubs if you must.
If earlyish in Jan. (from 3rd to 15th). Send Mrs DallyPaul a post and see what she can offer you for accommodation and food. Deals can be done wink wink apexgroup@free.fr.

Cheers for the suggestions. Looks like France is the better bet with good flight connections to Geneva.

pam w, where's the hostel in Cham? Is it this one?

Anyone else got any other places they can recommend?

Cheers

Kersh, Chamonix is really bad for stag parties, I suggest Dublin.

Kersh, We had a stag do in Chamonix and it was "OK". If you have a good group you could go anywhere and make your own party, but for the ultimate in stagski head to Ischgl or Solden. Look to stay out of the main resorts to save on accommodation costs, i.e. Zweiselstein for Solden or Mathon/Kappl for Ischgl.

Getting to any of these places from all parts of the UK can be tricky to co-ordinate though. You may also have difficulties booking for part week or weekend stays, but give it a go 'cause it'll be worth it.

It must be Austria ! Stay away from France for this trip.

I found a website that gives a many many choices of activities for a stag do. such as paintballing, rage buggies, clay pigeon shooting and many others... There are also night and day activities.

Morzine would be ideal. Multiple uk airports fly to Geneva, 1 hour transfer times and good apres ski. Also great skiing/boarding.
