Doncaster airport closed until at least midday tomorrow. But somehow East Mids airport has managed to remain open and functioning almost normally throughout. I guess it's that bit further south, there's not been as much snow as North Notts and South Yorks.

colleague from my office woke at 4, got the train to gatwick having decided not to drive, took 5 hours (from croydon) - several hours delay then assorted pfaffing - come 2pm at the check-in desk to be told "Sorry, you honeymoon is cancelled"

That is odd... wind chill with no wind.
Just taking one airport example, cannot see Gatwick re-opening tomorrow - snowing all night tonight and forecast is for snow all day tomorrow. http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/today.asp?zipcode=crawley - Friday at the earliest I reckon.

Gatwick flow rate reduced to 17 flights per hour
Heathrow flow rate reduced to 17 flights per hour
London City down to 6 flights per hour
For London the problem is Freezing Fog

Update - Monday 6 December
Airports updates
Glasgow and Edinburgh closed till 1800
Heathrow arrivals flow 36 per hour until 1600. This has resulted in 2 hour plus holding delays and 30 mins plus delay on the ground due to the freezing fog which is now forecast until 0700 tomorrow
Gatwick all restrictions lifted at present
London City arrivals 8 per hour (50% of normal) until 22:00
