Definitely get EHIC as it will get back money for small bits and pieces that may be below your insurance excess.
DogTag should be fine for cover up on the mountain but I have heard of people in Morzine / Avoriaz being asked to prove they are covered before being scooped off the mountain.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Tomsk, cool. Get an EHIC, daft not to. Not heard the PDS pisteurs being draconian, but a few years since I last had to use their services.

Tomsk, the policy I have (American Express) gives a discount if you have the EHIC and use it as appropriate.

My Direct Travel policy waives the excess if you use EHIC.

Tomsk, my ski insurance policy says
Quote: |
Reciprocal health arrangements
European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) - the replacement for the E111
{snipped}
If you make use of these arrangements or any other worldwide reciprocal health arrangement
which reduces your medical expenses, you will not have to pay an excess. |
So having an EHIC is worthwhile for me.
