Hiya all heading out to canada this season to work as an instructor. I have a set of instructing skis but looking at getting a second set of skis for days off etc. Idealy i would like a 90mm + waist. These would be used in the park, powder and general freeskiing. Im not looking at spending too much as im on a pretty limited budget. Would be great of you could provide some ideas etc.
Im also wondering about size of ski , Im 6ft 1, agressive, and expert level. Have seen some k2 skis but the lenght is 189 is this too long? was thinking of sizes between 177 and 185

I have been thinking about that but from past experience prices have been about £50 to £100 more expensive than the UK especially if i can get something second hand over here.

Pretty much every manufacturer has at least one ski that could be suitable, have a browse, then get in German ebay and buy whatever takes your fancy silly cheap. 189 shouldn't be too long if you are 6 foot and expert level, depends on your weight too though.

6'1", aggressive, expert... asking about 177cm. Hmmmm. How about some Roxy Mumbo Jumbo, it's like the S7 only with girly colours...
Where in Canada will you be? Quebec? MTFU and get some real skis, after a season here you'll learn a few things.
Craigs List is your friend for cheap skis in Canada. If you are BC way my friend is off loading some mint (skied twice) Scott P4s with Salomon 14 DIN metal bindings for $225 - ideal for park & pow.

Spent last Season Working at Marmot Basin (Alberta) so think ive learnt those few things

max.makinson, seriously? haha. PMSL. And you're still scared of a 189cm ski? Something tells me you still have some learning to do, or better lying. Good luck though bro, you clearly have it covered. Add to your list some Icelantics, they come in a 169cm so they should be right up your ally. Maybe some snowblades, you know, liven things up a little.
I am giving you a hard time that I think you deserve BTW. I consider the guy who fixes my brakes on my car to be an expert. If he was posting on an internet forum, "which are disc brakes should I get", I would poo-poo myself. Wait. You see the bigger issue is that a car brake 'specialist' would probably give us a little more information, for instance, the make of the car, the year, any modifications / hauling requirements etc... That would allow people to make suggestions.
As a self confessed "expert", level 3 CSIA and a level 2 race coach, 1) you haven't worked out what skis you might like for yourself. 2) You give us no other information: where you'll be skiing, how you like to ski, the types of skis you have liked in the past etc etc. 3) You think for a 6'1" "expert" and "aggressive skier a 177cm ski is appropriate.
I just read your post about skis being cheaper in the UK too. Not sure where you do your shopping man, maybe you have mug written on your forehead.
FWIW I'm a pretty decent skier, I'm 110% sure I would kick your ass in a ski off (open to offers if you like) but I would never consider myself an expert and post that on a message board.
Oh. And if you're taking this post seriously, lighten up a little. There's pain in my jokes, but it's not too late for you to become a man...

I got a nice pair of Armada Skiis from a person in Quebec that posted on craig's list. I took a trip up there last year about this time and before I went I bought a pair off of a local guy and I picked them up when I got there. I ended up using them the whole time and loving them and I got them at a really low price. I was able to barter the guy down to $150.00 and they had little to no usage prior.
