hi, has anyone had any dealings with the ESF in Montalbert (La Plagne), specifically with kids lessons, also the creche as well. Going there next year and haven't had the best of times with esf in the past in other locations, any info appreciated

cal30, welcome to SH. Yes I have had much dealing with ESf from a kids perspective. We have an apartment in the village and a 3 year old. How old are the kids and what standard are they?
We opted for private lessons for various reasons. Mouth junior had just turned three and we decided on one hour lessons to begin with. We did not want him hanging around in the piou piou area as part of a group and as we were there in not so busy times most of the group lessons for his age would have been in french.
At the end of 5 lessons he was at the age of 3 years and 1 month skiing on his own snow ploughing down from top of first chair. Within 3 weeks he was skiing from the second chair. The private lessons are focused, fun and cater for specific needs of the child at their appropriate age of development. I can recommend a couple of top english speaking instructors who specialise in children if you want.
If it is group you are after then it will depend on when you are going? Again I can recommend some good teachers but with groups you do not always have the choice.
Personally I would recommend private lessons if the budget allows. They will make better progress and be ready to ski all over the mountain with you sooner. The again it depends on what standard they are at now?

My daughter will be 4yrs 5months when we are there, begining of February, and it will be her first time on ski's. Budget wise we will most probably have to go with the school rather than private lessons, and the general plan is for her to go straight from lessons into the creche (that way we can go off and ski further afield and not be restricted to just that area - 'saying that with fear of sounding like horrible parents willing to abandon their daughter'!!!!) But we do have the 'usual' parent concerns that she will be the only english speaking child and therefore feel left out, lonely, etc, and not enjoy her time, so, re. the esf lessons, do you happen to know what the group sizes are for the little ones, and how would you generally rate them overall

cal30, The group sizes can vary depending on when you go. What dates are you there in Feb? (We are there beginning of Feb) Usually about 8 but bigger in school hols. Sounds like piou piou your best option. This is a combination of inside creche and then they take them out for a lesson in the kids area.
I have friends whose kids have done piou piou and they seem to get on ok but does depend on the teacher you get.

Hi Mouth, we are there the week begining 5th Feb. I think we are going to go for the Piou Piou as it seems the best (only) option. Any other info on Monalbert and the resort you could give me would be much appreciated, thanks again
