Poster: A snowHead
|
Just bought a paid of Palmer P01 skis http://www.palmerproject.com/de/menu1/products/mens-skis/p01twin-bud/p01twin-bud1/ and need to fit bindings... Any recommendations? Palmer usually fit Tyrolia Peak 12 or Tyrolia LD 12 Cyber to these skis I think... The euro site is mostly down but the LD 12 Cybers are the only bindings offered on their Swiss site... I have emailed them to ask is they have anything they can fit but want to check my options. The Palmer skis are a total unknown to me - I just got a good deal and read what I could about them and thought they were worth a shot for an upcoming trip...
I'm 168cm and 62kg so don't need any silly DIN settings - advanced intermediate spending more and more time off-piste. When I'm on piste I tend to ski at about 110% if there are no innocent bystanders... Light would be nice. I've been humping around rental bindings for the last couple of years and would appreciate something lighter.
Money is an issue but value is more important. EB have Tyrolia Peak 12s at £115 and Ski Bartlett have a range of Markers etc for less than £160. I also like the idea of the Diamir Freerides to allow some touring but am concerned that they will be compromised for the lift-based stuff I usually do and much more money... I'm in Edinburgh so probably the closest place to get them fitted would be Blues or EB in Braehead if I end up buying the bindings from them. Anyone used EB for this type of thing?
Any and all advice will be gratefully received...
Cheers
Dino

I'm currently in the same position as you at the moment i.e. looking for bindings + fitting in Edinburgh.
Where I've got to so far is pointing me to Freeze Proshop who are currently offering binding fitting for £15. Can't decide between the Salomon STH12 at £140 or the Marker Griffon at £160 though.
Anybody have any thoughts about the pros and cons of these two? I ski a DIN of 8 so I've no need for anything beefier.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd forgotten about Freeze....
My situation has become more interesting since Palmer told me that it takes them 10 days to clear a credit card payment before they dispatch my new skis. From Germany.. Handy when I leave for the alps in 13 days... Might have to find a late-night ski shop in Tignes to fit the bindings for me... Or find a different set of skis.... Grrrr!

dinomartino, Awesome, the P18 from Look. Prrobably overkill for most, heavey and pretty indestructable. Shiney too.
