Poster: A snowHead
|
Hey all,
I am off skiing for the first time in about 10 years in a couple of weeks . I have a pair of Atomic skis which have been used a couple of times but have been sitting in the loft for the last 10 years. The edges seem pretty good, no signs of rust etc, do you think these would be safe to use afer all this time or should I get them serviced when I get to Saalbach? Any idea of costs etc?
Thanks

Should be fine. I full service in most places in Saalbach is around 25-30 euros (filling in ptex gouges etc as well as wax and edges), should be about half that if you just want the bases waxed and edges sharpened. I wouldn't worry about it unless they;re awful though, unless your racing or it's properly bulletproof there's no point tuning all the time, you jsut use up your edges quicker.

worz666, as above. If you get the opportunity to demo some new skis on your trip I'd take it. Things have changed a fair amount in 10 years!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I must admit i was thinking of leaving them at home for this reason. They were top of the range carving skis all those years ago, very heavy and very fast. What has changed most would you say ?
