el Hen, that's all rather more sensible than the previously fractured logistics, though I can see quite a few disappointed communes!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

An hour from Annecy to Chamonix? Hmm. Not unless they've finished all those wretched roadworks into Chamonix, which have been going on as long as I can remember.

Depends on the time of day I suppose - I don't go to chamonix very often. But it seemed to take me ages to get down from the Aiguille du Midi car park to the A40 today - it was busy, but not ridiculous. Lots of 50 kph limit. According to Google maps it's 106 km. In winter conditions the speed limit will quite often be 110.

However very bad news for us in the PDS as it probably means a lot of lift and village improvements here won't happen as we have lost the womens Alpine races. I would still love to se France win it but at the moment I hear we are not even in second place

PG09, sadly the train service is conditional on bid success. So, in 2014 you'll be able to get from London to Geneva directly in around 5 hours apparently but the last 85 kms will take another 4 hours. FFS.
Although, maybe the CEVA project will help.

In fairness, no timetables announced so I presume subject to change, but, still...

No plans finalised, etc. But that would be good, especially for Swiss resorts that are easy to reach by train. Let's hope it happens.
