I've just been given a quantity of 8mm plywood, I thought I would knock up my own pair of skis.
Any suggestions for what colour I should paint them?

To answer the question though... Brown is s suitable colour for home-made skis (no apostrophe)

I know a guy who actually made his own skis and went online to find out how to do it.
He used a mould that me made and then fire hoses to build up the pressure to laminate the skis in the mould.
I'm not sure cutting plywood will give you the greatest stability in the world or how you will get the base and edge to stick porperly without a mould, however go with some Banksy style graphics and then varnish those bad boys!
At least they will look cool! Otherwise google it up as there are websites that show you all the things you need to make skis.
He took 10 tries to get a half decent pair, first few were interesting!

No paint. Put a wood veneer on them.
There are a few skis built from plywood on skibuilders. One guy by the username of 'Plywood' seemed to have built some nice skis. I don't think they are the lightest with all the gunk that is in plywood.
I think Vaccum bagged plywood skis without sidewalls are possibly the simplest home made ski you could build. No expensive press needed and no need to profile cores properly. Would love to try it myself but think it will have to wait till I have a garage to mess up!
