Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Want a new pair of gloves as duck tape on the old starting to look very didgy. Want something waterproof so when i am in fifty foot of powder digging myself out (or that may be just in the car park after a week of snow!) my hands will stay dry. budget around 30 squiddleys. What say the wise people?

flog873347, TK-Max have some good quality gloves for around the £30/35 pounds . I purchased a very nice pair of Reusch gloves in there last week.

flog873347, as riverman says at that pricepoint TK-Max is pretty good. If you know someone with a Costco membership they have Head gloves for under £20.

If you can stretch to £50 edge and wax will (unless they've sold out) seel you a pair of discounted Hestras which will both look sexy and last for years. Maybe even keep you warm and dry too. Maybe.

Love my Hestra Alpine Pro Skicross gloves I picked for for about €50 on the EoSB, don't like big bulky gloves so these are just perfect. If you can manage another twenty quid and can find some Hestras for £50 you won't be dissapointed. But as has been said if £30 really is your top end Tacky M or Costco certainly the way to go!

The ones stuck with duck tape are the head from Costco bought in the states 5 years ago for $20 bucks - at the time about a tenner. Will check out the Hestra / reusch. Any one know about sealskinz??

My sealskinz have failed between index finger & thumb on both sides. Presume this is from carrying skis. It's just where skis 'nip' together when being carried. The heavy-duty patching isn't extensive enough in this area for skiing gloves. When I first got them they felt ace but they are going to be relegated to cycling and I'm going to by something else for this winter. Only used for about 10-12days so not recommended.

Do mitts or 3-finger gloves make a big difference in warmth over standard 5-finger gloves (thinking in particular about the Hestra Army Leather variants of these)?

I've never worn mitts before and so I can't appreciate the benefit in warmth vs loss in finger dexterity.

Yep mitts and 3 fingers are warmer and while obviously a bit clumsier well fitting ones won't hamper you too much. My hands tend to run hot so I much prefer proper gloves all the time but my kids will go with gloves on warmer days and mitts on the colder ones.
