Poster: A snowHead
|
Evening all.
As the title says im after a little point in the right direction.
The mother in law will be coming on our family snow trip in December. She is travelling from Gutersloph to Bourg and is having a hard time of finding out how and where to book and what would be the best options and most direct route.
Ideally a sleeper would be great but i cant find out where to look and book in English.
Please help

If the departure point is Gutersloh, it looks like there are a number of options, shortest I found was a 12 hr minimum involving six trains via Cologne, Brussels, Lyon and Chambery.
There is a direct overnight on Friday 10th from Paris to BSM, so only 3 trains (+ paris metro transfer) via Cologne
There were other options via Cologne, Paris and TGV to Lyon.
Another was via Dortmund to Basel overnight express, then Geneva and Chambery.
I checked 10/11 December. Unfortunately no fare info because some of the legs start and finish outside Germany.
Not sure if this helps, none of the options look straightforward.

To come to think of it, you hardly ever see Germans skiing in France, wonder why?

To add to Snowballs last post,
I've used the DB UK office to book a few trips from Munich down to the alps.
When using the website you could find train times but couldn't get ticket prices for some reason - this may have changed as it was a couple of years ago that I last used them.
I phoned the Uk office to clarify ticket prices and as you might expect they are very good at what they do and tickets always turn up in a couple of days in the post.
Just had my annual broucher through the post reminding me that they exist for this season!
One of my best memories is travelling from Innsbruck to St Anton on the day after boxing day for our millenium new year trip. Left Innsbruck at about 6.30 am in the dark and as we travelled up the valley towards St Anton, dawn broke and the mountains turned from dark blue to brilliant white along the way, all my mates were asleep and missed the show.
That was the best journey to a ski resort I every had, it was a genuine WOW moment with a Faithless sound track - Beatiful

hmm so is there two sides to the airport? Is this a risk? Bearing in mind it is the mother in law so I dont want to leave anything to chance
