Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi
Just seen this on the Schmitten website-
http://www.schmitten.at/en/das-projekt/
It's good that there is an additional ski run (much needed) but I'm not sure that it's worth €72.6m!!! I presume there will be some development around the base station to justify this expenditure.
Zell pistes are fairly busy at the best of times - do you think it will be even more crowded in the future?

This is the extension to the nearby village of Piesendorf, with 4 new lifts.

See this thread as well:

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Tom
I have seen that thread before but not the recent posts!
I'm rather amazed at the cost of this project which is quoted on the website - but maybe that's how much these developments cost! No wonder our ski passes are so expensive!

It does seem expensive.
Just to build/upgrade 4 ski lifts on their own might cost 30-35m but this is completely new development.
They will have to transform the land, cut the forest etc, build new restaurants, parking facilities, base station, ski school, buy new piste grooming machines....
and I guess in this area - as apparently it is on the sunny side - kilometers of snow making system - machines and pipes, maybe water reservoir/artificial lake etc.
I follow a bit resort upgrades in Austria and it seems that just snowmaking system for a few kilometers of piste can cost millions.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Schmittenhoehebahn AG is 50% owned by Porsche AG. The words written off and against tax spring to mind?
Time to buy property in Piesendorf?
