I think the "Super size me" experiment should be repeated at a Michelin starred restaurant, I'm willing to attempt this if I can find the financial resources. I will endeavour to eat every course offered for a whole month

EmmaW,
Im not geting into a big discussion on this but I doubt there's anymore than say a "Sunday Lunch" or "Beans on Toast".
I do know the tradtional flat griddle & pack down method they use a Mc's to cook there burgers results in alot less fat in the burger than say at BK where they only let the fat drip off by the flame cook method.
My point is how many people live this kind of daily routine nowadays :-
Go to bed & lie down for 7-8hrs, sit down for breakfast, sit down in car and go work, sit down behind a PC at office for 8+hrs ,go home sit down & have dinner and watch TV then go to bed.
Net Result > Sitting on your Ass = 20hrs
> Activity = 4hrs
I think this has much much more to contibute to the Subject Header than just a Burger joint !

I don't go to McDs more than maybe 1x per year, but I'm with stanton, on this one. Everyone villifies McDonalds because they're the market leaders in their area, and because obesity is rising and has an undeniably bad effect on health. And I have seen Supersize Me, and would not like to repeat the experiment myself!
But surely everyone who eats there does out of personal choice, and there are loads of other places to go, including cooking fresh stuff at home which I prefer and would reccommend. If some freaks eat there 10x per week or whatever, and get to 20st, well f#@k them I say. They're idiots and eating cheese sandwhiches or steaks or salads or pretty much anything to those kind of extremes would be equally bad.
You can't blame McDonalds for the way some people use it's products. If Audi sponsored Team GB Ski like it does the FIS World Cup races, would that be a bad thing because a few people drive badly and kill themselves? If you're a minor sport like skiing, you've got to take whatever sposnorship $$ you can - at least it's not tobacco like Darts, Snooker, F1 etc

To give them some credit, they are trying hard to offer new healthy options. A big improvement and it tastes quite good.

Frosty the Snowman, I understand that the salad dressing portion in the 'healthy option' has more fat and sugar than a BigBarfer

Masque, I do think that you are wrong. You can get a grilled chicken salad, or the Chicken premiere full fat version. if you take the full fat version and full fat dressing then chances are you will get fat like me!. However there is a choice that was not there before. As far as fast food goes, McDonalds is much improved in the past 12 months (IMHO of course)

Plake, Thanks.
In the past over here the Dutch have looked after all there dossers and gotten them off the streets, fed, housed & clothed them etc. However, due to big social cutbacks in recent years Mac''s and all the others have become a lifeline for them (because of price, deals etc).
I have a Mac's near me & I see the same dossers going in there everyday & they are NOT fat because they can only afford the one meal & are walking the streets allday burning it off
David@traxvax,
I cannot remember the last time !'ve eaten at a Mac's infact I think I may of only had a coffee but I do have some considerable onsite experience of a Mc'Donalds Abotoire (In computing systems) and I can assure you that the Cows goes in one end and burgers come out the other and the facilities are spotless .

stanton's got a point though, it's at least as much how you look after yourself as what you eat.... as this German ad for a sports club suggests... [WARNING!: nudity... check it out quickly before a Mod appears ]

Ian Hopkinson, There is a book called "Feeding Frenzy" bu Stuart Stevens where he does exactly that and he eats in every Michelin 3 star restaurant in Europe (29 in all) on consequtive days as part of a bet. It's quite amuzing. They don't complain of any ill health effects other than getting rather bored with blow out meals every night!
I ate once in a Michelin 3 star in London and it was without doubt the best meal that I've ever had but at over 100 quid a head it should be. The trick is to try and put your credit card down without fainting at the size of the bill!
