Poster: A snowHead

Having done a little bit of reserach Versonnaz looks like it has better intermediate skiing for the whole family than the local Verbier slopes.
Anyone been there????

It has the best piste skiing in the 4 Vallees but there is nothing else there.
We got stuck there last season when the weather went very bad and all the lifts got shut, I didn't look around much as was trying to find out how to get back to Nendaz but there appeared to only be one bar which was attached to a hotel and one hire shop although I think there's another one somewhere else. Didn't see a supermarket but I think there is one somewhere most things were shut as it was lunchtime. There are a lot of drag lifts that are mainly T-bars. Decent looking snowpark too heading towards Thyon and like I said the best piste skiing in the area.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Great views.
Reasonable onpiste and offpiste.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I have stayed there several times, there are a fair number of appartments near to each of the two gondolas.

Oi Oi Savaloy, If you are looking purely for family friendly skiing from what I have seen it's fine though the lift system in that part looks a little antiquated. If you want to make more than just the one trip to Verbiers skiing and particularly if you are trying to do it in a short time when the family are having lessons be warned that it's a long haul.

T Bar, Good point, it takes an hour from Les Masses to Siviez and I imagine it's a similar haul from Vessonaz, maybe a bit quicker as you don't have to use the uber-slow 2 man chair. Then providing the lifts interlink well it's another 30 min to Verbier so by the time you got there you'd have to turn round and come back. It may be possible for a ski school group to get taken over for a lesson and then you could ski back with them but I'd imagine in a peak week when the instructors are teaching all day it's unlikely.

Oi Oi Savaloy, when you include Savoleyres and La Tzoumaz I'd say Verbier is better - although inevitably more expensive. Too many drag lifts over on the Veysonnaz side.
