Poster: A snowHead

Ski Gurus.
My boss has a niece who is going to be a Scott Dunn chalet girl this season in Courcheval, (unbelievable interview process but she got it).
Anyway the family (probably up to four adults and several children) want to go out at Feb half term - probably on the train.
I wondered if you have any links or suggestions for self catering places as half term is such a rip off week? They are stuck with dates because of school holidays.
Obviously I'm trying to help by posting here - it is for my boss after all!
Any ideas welcome.

OK - I don't know the resort - so what are the most convenient spots to stay in close to shops, restaurants and the ski lifts? Anyone got any self catering recommendations?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Farry, they don't get mates' rates with Scott Dunn, then? My son worked - or rather was recruited - as a chef for Scott Dunn in Val D'Isere. He ended up resigning before the season started and working freelance but he got together with a girl who was a chalet maid at a pre-season training day in the UK (surprise surprise) and she stuck it out.
It's French holidays too - and that's the main reason everything is so expensive. Self catering places will also be expensive - the 4 weeks of the French school hols are when everyone in French resorts aims to make their money.
The only part I've stayed is 1650, which is cheaper than 1850, but presumably they'll want to stay near their niece. Where's her chalet? the different areas are quite spread out, by road, and buses not always frequent or convenient - especially during the evening. A hired car would be helpful if they need to get from one part of the resort to another. The "main" centre and the most expensive bit is 1850.
People who know the 3V better than I will probably be able to recommend places. We just used the resort tourist office - rang them up. these days it's all on the internet of course, but don't expect any bargains that week.

Farry, Unless you want to be in Courchevel itself you could try La Tania which is lift connected to Courchevel by day. You may find its a bit cheaper, try www.latania.co.uk for owner offered appartments.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

He's going to one of the most expensive resorts in the world in one of the priciest weeks in the season. It's time his expectations were managed such that he doesn't expect anything less than comically exorbitant.
