Someone wrote in another thread that Icelantic skis were a bit like Marmite - some people love them and others not quite so much.
The comment made me think that it could be a great notion worked into a range of ski names.
Marmites, Nutellas, Honeys, Conserves, Bovrils and Vegemites!!
I wonder what sort of ski each would be?
Maybe:
Marmites, big wide off piste skis with querky graphics
Nutellas, smooth easy riding piste skis
Honeys - ladies Nutellas
Conserves, top end piste skis
Bovrils, twin tips - in da parc skis
Vegemites - for mounting with telemark bindings
Anyone care to come up with their own range?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

But what if a range were brought out called SNOWHEADS? I had a little look at random adverts and wondered whose names might appear on skis which:
have soft flex, wide tips and narrow tails
feature excellent chatter control
are wide enough for crud
are good for high speed turns in any conditions
are easy to steer, strong & predictable
lively with well balanced qualities (Butterfly of course!)
etc.....

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Butterfly, surely a significant chunk of the SNOWHEADS range would feature the following fitted as standard...
wild, unpredictable chatter
tendancy of veering off course at any moment
strange handling in icy transitions
unnecessarily heavy
work best with antiquated bindings
claim to excellent off-piste credentials - while delivering, at best, average on-piste experience
look best propping up the bar
come with caution notice that proximity to helmets may cause spontaneous combustion

You know it makes sense.

I'll bite
have soft flex, wide tips and narrow tails - JB1970's
feature excellent chatter control - Hurtles
are wide enough for crud - PJ Skis
are good for high speed turns in any conditions - Scarpas
are easy to steer, strong & predictable - Admins
All in jest, no offence meant to anyone

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
|
Latchigobs - little short white skis that produce offensive chatter. Users revel in their lack of popularity.
Goldfishes - over or under exposed skis, no happy medium, always want to ski the same ruts but surprisingly rarely seen on snow
Masques - jigsaw puzzle skis that can be combined in any number of ways
BSKs - initially popular skis that subsequently lost sales numbers due to nitpicking technical manual with obsessive detail
Apres - enable a lot of people to do their best skiing
Michelles - lovely easy going skis that put a smile on your face
Eeyores - initially appear friendly and benign but have a kick that can result in injury
SZKs - these skis are actually all about the boot set up
FTSs - may only be worn by members of the glorious republic of Yorkshire
The Noodlers - very shouty skis, tend to the right
Scarpas - always heading for dodgy ground, deliberately so
