Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Not a pipe dream ski touring there can be very interesting but as a place with ski lifts etc etc, now that would be a real challenge to make happen. There are or rather were two places in Pakistan that had lifts, now one has been destroyed by taliban, other still works (sometimes!!!), but there are also a few other places out there with temporary lifts. An interesting region and a place to keep an eye on for the real thrill of adventure, heli skiing is also good in the area, but that is another story.

I do wonder in these remote area away from skier populations and transportation hubs, would it not be more feasible to run a cat or heli operation rather than putting down fixed lifts?

What is the point of the grauniad running this story? It's never going to happen as a ski resort. Just leave it alone rolling eyes

As a commercial, resort based venture attracting non-Afghani skiers who are not in the country already due to the conflict, I'm convinced it's a pipe dream.

I've ski toured in Pakistan and the terrain there and the broader region encompassing Afghanistan is immense. The logistics however make this venture unrealistic.

And I'm aware they said the same about Gulmarg.

But then again Gulmarg is not your typical resort experience, and attracts a very hard-core clientelle.
