Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Montgenevre

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
After considering Saalbach and Soldeau for next season, each of which ticks different boxes, we've arrived at a state of indecision. Now to confuse things, I've read a couple of articles saying good things about Montgenevre. We're a family of 3 red run cruisers who will probably do a bit of ski school (but prefer not all day like Austria), who dont really do night life beyond a meal and a few beers (11 yr old daughter), but prefer comfy hotels or apartments. Would any SH's have any info on Montgenevre that could help us make a decision ?
Thanks Mike

Schladming in Austria or Selva in Italy are resorts with great red runs and some lovely hotels .Hope this dosent confuse you more.

hi mike
get in the Hameau apts Montgenevre, just back from there, lots of families i was father and daughter party. the pool is great after a day on the slopes, lots to for skiing alternatives, including trip to Sierre chevalier by tour ops, which is covered on lift pass.
not sure if independent travel or a tour op will work out much difference for 3 of you? i know tour op was best option for just 2 of us.
if you need any more info just ask Madeye-Smiley

We've just been to montgenevre with two children and had a great time..good range of runs and heavy snowfalls late March. You can ski over to Claviere and there are plenty of reds there. Apeak international ski school are excellent and the week we went had very small class sizes. Their lessons start 15 mins after ESF in the mornings. Hameau des Airelles are nice appartments with pool and you can ski in and ski out. However they are located 10-15 mins walk from the centre of resort..there is a regular bus from there to ski school. The resort seems very quiet at night which suited us. We found the restaurants disappointing..overpriced and food not that great. Other than that we had a great holiday there and would consider going back.

Montegenevre is a hidden gem.
Very snowsure. Nice village. Even if you don't use the milky way (sestriere etc) it is still a sizeable are.
Very reasonable prices, low for french standards.

Here's what the french themselves think about the resort.
If interested in any french resorts, the skipass resort guide is your best starting point.

Alpinforum is the best source for reports on swiss and austrian resorts, but sometimes also nice reports on out-of-the way (from a german perspective) and unknown resorts.
There's a number of forum members who do skiing trips that take 4000 km, and go as far as Greece and Bulgaria (by car!!!).
