Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

pembsflyer, maybe search on monterosa?

Anyway, you want the full monterosa pass. I don't know what they do in terms of "local" passes but they'll be too limiting.

Gressoney (either one) is pretty small, tiny in fact as villages go. The lift system is kind of self explanatory. One caution, if the piste patrol advise that you stay in your own valley, typically because of forecast high wind, do so. It either expensive (Champoluc) or eye-wateringly expensive (Alagna) if you get stuck in the wrong one.

pembsflyer, it's a lovely area. We did a weekend in Alagna last year and loved it. Authentic small village feel and great skiing. We were there for the off piste but with the 3 valleys (Gressoney, Alagna and Champoluc) there should be enough to keep you busy for a week. We really enjoyed lunch at the Rifugio Guglielmina. You'll eat and drink really well!!!

Great ski area for intermediates but you will definitely need the full area pass.

pembsflyer, sorry, should have been more enthusiastic.

You'll love it.

Guglielmina a good recommendation. Also Rifugio Grande Halte.

Most on mountain restaurants fine, although not much "fine" dining. Cheap and cheerful, suggest you get wine by the carafe, cheap as chips, good quality - just don't be surprised when the red is fizzy. Have no knowledge of staying in Gressoney (which bit are you in by the way?)

Staying at an apartment attached to Hotel Dufour Gressoney la trinite self catering. Is there a good/not rip off shop in village or should we shop en route from Milan? What is the road like into La trinite are we likely to need snow chains? Is the Dufour under the same management as i believe a rellie is an instructor, might try a bit off piste but guess an instrutor/guide might be an idea

Cheers

just come back from Gressoney La Trinite, stayed at the sciolloto. Not a bad little hotel the food was very italian veal seemed to be on the menu a lot but on the whole a good stay by our small group of friends. A good point was the ski bus supplied by the hotel priceless.
During the week days the slopes where empty but the area to a couple of our group became quite small, they like to clock up the ski miles... The rep Sarah from Crystal was very good with her ski days, on the whole a very nice area, but not sure i would go back..
