Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting from Chamonix to St Anton

Hi folks - anyone know the best way to do this if possible? Thinking maybe a train from Geneva to Zurich, then up to St Anton from there, but any info appreciated.
Trying to have my cake and eat it and squeeze in a couple of days in Cham before a couple of already booked days in St Anton, without having to fly back home between trips...

Hi,

I'm planning on travelling from the portes du soleil to the arlberg region at easter, i've done the reverse trip at xmas - i was driven to zurich (but can get a train direct from st anton) and then i took a direct train to Lausanne as i was heading for Torgon so pretty near lake geneva.

So you can get a train from lausanne to zurich and then change to go to st anton, your talking 2 hrs 15 for each train, but then you'd have to get to lausanne from cham, so best bet is going from martigny - i think you do martigny to visp, visp to zurich, zurich to st anton. probably 6 hours ish. swiss trains are crazy prices though! check out sbb website, that will give you a better idea

If you can get to Zurich it's a direct train to Anton, 35 euros I think last season, less if you spend 19 euros on the vorteilskarte.

Thanks for the replies - Whats the Vorteilskarte? (sp?)
Thinking so far maybe the best plan is to go from Cham to Geneva (by bus or whatever) then Geneva to Zurich (airport?) by train, then from Zurich to St Anton by train also - anyone any better ideas??

I did Chamonix to Laax a few years back. Was surprisingly straightforward. Train from Chamonix to Martigny, then Martigny to Zurich and bus to Laax. Didn't take a stupidly long time either.

Don't see much point in getting a bus to Geneva when you can get straight on a train in Cham.
