The hopes of Team GB’s men’s two-man bobsleigh crew ended prematurely when they crashed on their opening run at the Whistler Sliding Centre today (Saturday).
The pair of driver John Jackson and Dan Money walked away from their bobsleigh with cuts and bruises but said they will be back in action in the four-man.
Driver Jackson said: "It's disappointing because we've had some fairly decent times in the two-man.
"The track is in an amazing condition and it's beautiful to drive. I just made a mistake."
Brakeman Money said: "We were in the top-10 in training and we felt really good. It's a good track. It's fast and challenging, but it's the Olympic Winter Games, so you expect it to be.
"This can happen - it's bobsleigh, it's not ballet dancing. We'll just have to come back for the four-man."
The pair will join forces with Allyn Condon and Henry Nwume in the four-man bobsleigh, which takes place on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February.

It was certainly by far the safest thing for him to do, and given the distance they still had to travel, even if he had stayed in, they would have been so far behind that they would have had no chance of a top 10 finish.

bertie bassett, Which leaves them in 21st place, 3 seconds off the lead, and almost two seconds off the top 10. That is too much to make up, even for a team which would otherwise have had a serious chance of a medal.
After the 1st run, they had been just 1/10 of a second off the lead, in 3rd place. They were 3 whole seconds slower than on their first run, while most of the others were down about 3-4 tenths on their first runs.

In the slow-mo it looks like he got dragged out the side  . In all honesty, the way those sleds slide and roll, with those steel blades/runners I'd be trying my best to stay onboard.
I've been down the Lillehammer track in summer, and 75mph felt like 300mph!!

GBR 1 were 10th after the first heat of the four-run series today (Tuesday), 0.66 seconds off the lead. They improved on their first run of 53.85 with a time of 53.73 on the second.
The GBR 2 crew of Walker and her brakeman Thomas were 14th after the first run time of 54.19, but went much quicker second time, clocking 53.58 seconds to jump three places into 11th. They are 1.57 seconds off the leaders.
Competing at their first Olympic Winter Games, the pair said a top-10 finish overall could be within their grasp.
GBR 2 driver Walker said: "We're within 18 hundredths of a second off 10th place, so it's well within our range. We just want to get the best result that we can.”
Thomas said: "We knew we needed to up it on the second run, so we really went for it. We just need to give it a little bit more oomph."

GBR 2 driver Walker said: “This is our first Olympic Winter Games and we’re absolutely over the moon that we’ve come so far. Eleventh is higher than our world ranking.”
GBR 1 driver Minichiello said: “We knew we really had to go for it today and we threw everything into that run. We still believed we could do it, even after yesterday. Unfortunately it didn't pay off.
"We hit corner one again, but the rest of the run was going pretty well until we made a mistake going into 11.
"We didn't do our fourth run today because Gillian hurt her leg in the crash and because the sled was damaged.
"We're devastated by what happened, because so much of our focus has been on these Games," she added.
"It's a tough track, but that's no excuse because it's the same for everyone.
"We were really pleased to see how well Paula and Kelly did today."

Driver John Jackson said they aim to race again tomorrow as long as their sled is ok.
Jackson said: "I made a mistake, I went a little bit too high on the exit of 11. Obviously we're disappointed, but we're fine.
“We've got a couple of bumps and bruises. The sled has a few scrapes. We'll have a closer look at it later, but if it's fine we'll be back again tomorrow.
“We got some confidence after the first run and I just tried to push it a little bit more on the second,” he added.
The four-man bobsleigh is the final event of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
