Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Direct Line Home Insurance Plus – (Winter Travel Insurance) Warning

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Last year, I purchased Direct Line Home Insurance Plus, which offers as standard Annual Travel Insurance. This also includes Winter Sports, saving me money all round. Getting ready for my ski holiday to France, I decided to read the “small print” to see what is covered (or not) and to my horror, the policy states –

General Exceptions which apply to Section 7 – Travel
We will not pay for the following:

10. you taking part in any of the activities listed below:
Ski-flying, ski-acrobatics, ski-jumping, ski-racing, skiing off- piste, SNOWBOARDING, snow-carting and skiing against local authorities’ warnings or advice;[/

Despite numerous reads, I read that to mean that “snowboarding” was NOT covered!!!

After numerous different phone calls to Direct Line, they confirm that YES, SNOWBOARDING is NOT covered! BE WARNED! I have now purchased a “proper” Winter Sports travel insurance.

Read the small print before you go on holiday, you might be in for a surprise if you have to claim.

advanceddiver, Thanks for that warning. Mines OK but appreciate the heads-up.

Quite a few financial products now "include" an element of travel insurance. But what is included is usually only a very basic level, such as you get on the cheapest possible stand-a-lone policies. Quite a few cheap winter sports policies don't cover snowboarding within the cheapest option.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I noticed that the BMC Alpine policy does not include snowboarding as standard, there is a supplement to pay to include it.

RobW, Yep, the free insurance from my flexaccount would have cost more to add the kids to and upgrade to cover skiing than our Dogtags extreme sports family cover cost!
