So warm again,
Chemmy starting at 13 this time.
Same course as yesterday(for the downhill), a bit shorter but the end section will be the same.
How will she do?

Thanks for the info. 17.30 start? That's early. Some of us will have to get a bit of a flyer to get home from work in time. At least Chemmy's not bib 2 this time.

Will Paerson really race after yesterday's crash? Ditto Simmerling? My guess is there will be a few DNSs after yesterday's tough race.

maggi, I think it's an early start as they have to do the two events one after the other, It's a 9.30 for them over there.
Bit of a rush to get there if the lifts don't open till 9

Dwarf Vader, thanks again. Where are you gleaning this info?
How long should I set the vid for? I really can't watch this live.

Hurtle, I got a little time on my hands atm so I'm just surfing the net and thought I would post the alpine stuff up.
I will not give any any recommendations for video setting as the BBC seems to do what it wants with the schedule at short notice.

I think Chem'll get close to the medals providing she stays on her feet in the slalom. I reckon the Swiss girls and others will still be freaked out by yesterday's DH, whereas Chem seemed unfased. The pure slalom skiers will be cr*pping themselves. She's 8th in the world at this discipline so it doesn't take much to be there or thereabouts when the flowers are being handed out.

Dwarf Vader, true enough. Got to vid a programme on Beeb 4 as well - which will tax my outdated equipment, not to mention my brain. Oh well, at least the BBC4 thing will be on iPlayer.

Probably because she was the guts of 4 seconds slower than the top 5
She is skiing really well but I think the gap is to big, I am hoping she makes me eat my words and wish her all the best but I think it is a little out of her reach Think she will come in 5-8th

Could someone explain if BBC2 have got any of this live? Just checked the schedule online and there is no Olympics (apart from a highlights programme) until 11.20pm.

Tim Sawyer, it doesn't look like it from here.
It seems it's only on the sat/cable red button.

Damn, didn't realise it started at 5.30pm and I forgot to set the Freeview Plus. Just managed to get home at 7pm for the downhill yesterday. Are they doing red button replays again do yas think? Getting home from work before 7pm very rare.

I can only do snowheads during my breaks, not whilst working. Plus I'll be driving home from 6.30pm ish.
Swiss Toby, I don't have any problems accessing red button content through Freeview.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Swiss Toby, I think I can get Red Button on my Freeview box. Try manually tuning in to channel 301, 302, 303 and 305.

Swiss Toby, You think you're annoyed...try living in an area where you can't get Freeview either! I can't believe the BBC isn't covering the olympics properly on terrestrial television...we have a fantastic skier in Chemmy and I'm not going to be able to see the Super Combined...grrrr! Surely a once in four years event should be broadcast in a way that we can all enjoy without having to pay exorbitant fees?

Not just the Beeb; I was browsing the Daily Mail in teh cafe at lunchtime, and the Winter Olympics got one third of a page about 10 pages in from the back.
I'm assuming that although everyone here is obviously very interested, the general population aint.

Tim Sawyer, that's entirely it. A minority interest sport. Most of the people at work and certainly my friends and family (outside of my ski buddies of course) really couldn't give a stuff. Wonder what Torvill and Dean did to elicit such huge public support?

queen bodecia, rob@rar, I can get the red button fine but only one feed, cable/satellite appear to get 5 and the super combined will be on one of the 4 I can't get. If anyone is definitely getting more feeds on Freeview do let me know but the BBC schedule does suggest there's only one.

Ah well...I've put in an official complaint to Aunty Beeb about their general reliance on the additional services that many of their licence payers can't access. Did check the complaints list and the only complaint they've currently answered about the olympics is someone who was annoyed that they changed the schedule to show the mens downhill!! Fighting a losing battle here I'd guess.
