Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi simple one, I am off to Valle Nevado for a day skiing Saturday week.
Just wondering how cold it gets and what to pack?
I usually ski in France in March so imagine quite a bit colder? I generally dont feel the cold too bad and prefer less clothing.
Thanks.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

It's all above treeline so will likely depend heavily on weather on the day.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I skied there in August a few years back - used the same kit I use for skiing in Tignes.

OMG, long way to go for a day!!! However, based on my experience of late August, I also suggest the same kit as for France. You can get a taxi from Santiago without breaking the bank.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It is typically around -5c / 23f in the day at this time of year. Normal midwinter skiwear is good.

Lucky you - have been many times - just like Europe but all above treeline - try not to get caught in the occasional thick fog which makes getting home difficult! Enjoy a pisco sour or three.

Forgot to say there are 40 hairpin bends on the way up from Santiago - light breakfast only!
