Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

pre ski exercises and kids

We're off on our first ski holiday with the family in 5 weeks and I know from experience the need for fitness to ski! - but what about the kids? Do they need to be doing some pre ski exercises? They are average kids (noys age 5 and Cool, but they haven't done alot recently apart from swimming lessons and general running around.
Or are kids generally ok with skiing, I know my body is not what it was 10 years ago!! Sad
Any tips / experiences of your kids welcome, thanks

kapow, I don't think they need to do anything at all (assuming they're active kids who do sports, play games, run around etc). I don't recall ever getting any muscle aches and pains from skiing until I was at least in my mid-teens.

I have the same dilema not sure how to get the kids ready. I assume that swimming and usually running around that kids do should be sufficient. My I little guy is crazy over foot ball so hes pretty fit kicking around the football. Really if he could help it he would sleep inside the snow post rather than his bed.

chris12, chris12, totally. As long as they're not couch potatoes I don't think kids need to do anything more.

When I was a kid I never did any pre ski excersises, and never needed. Now at 20 I'm starting to feel like I need to do a bit, at least pre-season... Does that make me a wrinkly?

kapow,
Number 1 (aged 13) is quite feeble so I made her do squats every other day for a month before we went. No weights, just squatting down and back up again 20 or so times. However she is a real couch potato and will happily sit on Facebook all day long!!
Number 2 (aged 8 ) is pretty fit as she does lots of Ballet and Tap dancing.

They were both done in after a couple of hours though. I think boys are a lot fitter and more active at that age.
