Poster: A snowHead
|
Right I have unexpectedly found myself with a hire car and some time to myself tomorrow.
I land at 09:50, so reckoning on getting out of Geneva in my hire car by 10:30am, given the forecast is for fairly warm temps I am going to give the Mt Jura resorts a miss and head somewhere a little higher.
So what do snowheads reckon? My shortlist is Les Gets, St Gervais or La Clusaz...
I'm on my own so can't see me doing any big off piste stuff, so things I'd like are challenging runs, decent snow, the chance for a little play in some soft stuff if around....
and most importantly wanting to avoid massive half term queues....
Hopefully I'll check this post when I land Wed am and make a decision!
Cheers,
Greg

kitenski, Les Carroz is closest, you can rip over to Flaine for some steeper stuff. If that does not seem suitable I would chose Les Contamines next.
What a nice problem to have

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

St Gervais, less than 1 hour from Geneva airport, 24 Euro for an afternoon pass, was on the 12:50 gondola up, zero queue for that one, but a 5 min q for the next one. I overheard an instructor tell his English pupils that he would meet them at a less busy lift tomorrow.
So considering it's the busiest week of the year, the max queue I had all afternoon was 5 mins
All the 'ski on your own' off piste was tracked and mogulled, but fairly pleasant, I spied some nice lines and valleys I would have done with a buddy!
Cheers for recommendations Anniepen,
