Morning gang.
I’m planning on going to Les Menuires with my brother at the end of Jan/ first week of Feb (here’s hoping anyway!). As a X-mass present I’ve decided to get him an afternoon with a guide to try some more off-piste skiing which I know he’s keen to try his hand at. As I’ve never booked anything like that before, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? Who to go with, who to avoid, rough idea of likely price etc. As we’d be in T3V, the start point could probably also be in Meribel or Val Thorens although Courcheval might be a little far. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Phillippe or Claude come highly recommended in terms of VT instructors but someone else will have to give you the surnames/school. There's always New Gen too of course

Definitely sounds like you need an off piste instructor, not a guide. Most guides do not teach, indeed most are not qualified to, this is France after all!
As you say he wants to try his hand at, paying for a guide would be a waste. Don't know the 3V but New Gen hsve a good rep through the Alps. I would also go for a few days of morning's or afternoons.

Thanks for all the tips. He is a very accomplished piste skier and very experienced but just not too much off piste in the past. Perhaps I slightly underplayed his level in my first post. I shouldn’t think the ability will hold him back. I’ll follow the links
